In January 2006, two friends and I decided to try our hand at painting. We met in the garage apt/studio that one of them owns, and took a week's worth of instruction from her mother-in-law. That was all it took to hook us. Marching up the learning curve has been a real joy and a great challenge. Then a fourth friend joined us, and now she marches with us. We're all mothers and wives with very busy lives full of other people and obligations. What we share is the bonds of friendship that enable us to encourage each other, whether its been a good painting day or a lousy one (actually, they're all good even if there's nothing to show for it). A keeper or a wiper. A day of laughter or sometimes of tears.
We're still trekking, although now at different paces, and in some cases in different directions.
So this blog is my new direction. I've dreaded setting it up because I hate being on the computer too much (I'd rather paint, eat, sip a glass of wine, enjoy a good conversation or read a good book). But here goes... and I make no promises of daily updates or interesting compositions. Just a post when the fancy strikes.
